We are delighted to have completed the planting our new Jubilee Wood alongside the Trent & Mersey canal here in Findern. Villagers, Parish Councillors, members of Findern Footpaths Group, staff from the Canal & River Trust and the 1st Findern Brownies all came along to help on what was a very foggy morning!
We planted rowan, wild cherry, guelder rose and crab apple trees which we hope will provide a food source for the birds. This Jubillee Wood is a great way to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth. The trees have been funded by the Woodland Trust Jubilee Woods Project and by the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust's Value in Trees Project.
