We are delighted that long awaited improvements to some of our most popular rights of way will be underway soon. Derbyshire County Council have recently resurfaced a section of Priory Way,(footpath1). This will be of great benefit to people using prams and wheelchairs.
We are also advised that the legal work to divert a section of Crow Park Way (bridleway 11) has now been completed, and that a programme of improvement work will be undertaken during this financial year to enable it to open.
Finally, stiles along Priory Way which are in poor condition will be replaced by user friendy gates. There will also be a bridge constructed over a ditch which will also allow easier access. The gates and the bridge are being supplied by Derbyshire County Council, with the work being undertaken by volunteers from this group.
We are looking forward to these improvements being in place before the summer. We are very grateful to staff from Derbyshire County Council's Rights of Way Department, and The Countryside Service rangers for all their hard work, also to Cllr Martyn Ford for his unfailing support.
