Throughout April to September, we shall be surveying weekly the species and numbers of butterflies that are sighted on our wildlife sites. This will form part of a national survey organised by the Butterfly Conservation.
Group members have undergone two training sessions led by the Conservation and are now ready to go! The survey involves walking a pre planned route every week. The route will start from Commonpiece Lane and go into Cardales Wildflower Meadow. A circular area within the meadow will be kept short for this purpose. We need to choose a day where the temperatures are above 11 degrees, and preferably when the sun is shining. We shall be surveying with butterfly nets and identification charts, so if you see us please say hello!
If you would like to accompany us on the survey, please let us know. We will report all our sightings, so please look out for news of progress!
