We have been conducting our butterfly survey since April. We are walking a pre-determined route around our wildlife sites every week recording the butterflies that we see within a metre of the path. The survey got off to a slow start in April but the warmer weather has seen far more butterflies on our sites. The largest total so far is 280 butterflies sighted within a two hour period! We are recording large numbers of meadow browns, as well as sightings of small skippers, large whites, small tortoiseshells, gatekeepers and ringlet butterflies.
