Group members were out recently with members from Derby Bat Conservation Group inspecting our bat boxes for evidence of use. Our bat boxes are sited along the Trent & Mersey Canal towpath and on our wildlife sites. We were delighted to find that 74% of our boxes are being used by bats. We have previously recorded the presence of soprano, pipistrelle and natusius bats, but for the first time we recorded evidence that leisler bats are occupying our boxes.
We are very grateful to the members of Derby Bat Conservation Group for thier help, as we are not licensed to inspect the boxes ourselves.
