1: Apologies: Apologies for absence were received from Liz and Nev Froggatt, Sheila and Paul Wilson, Cllr. A Hood, Jan Ashford and Vic Wright.
2: Declarations of Interest: No declarations were made.
3: Minutes of last the meeting held on 18th May:
The Minutes of the meeting held on 18th May were agreed as a true record
4: Finance and Fundraising.
Income: Frances handed over £30.15 from the sale of surplus items at the Village Fete. Heather handed over £8 for the sale of a framed footpaths map.
Donations: Three buckets of bluebells from villagers.
5: Notifications and Correspondence:
Applications for funding from Action Earth have been completed. If successful, work will need to be completed by 7th September.
Minor damage had been done to the bench at Ballast Hole Pond. Nev. has repaired with wood filler.
Debbie Court, Biodiversity Officer at DCC is coming to see our projects on Friday, 21st July at 10 am, meeting at Lower Green
BHP information board due to be delivered. British Waterways are contacting cable company for advice with siting. They will install as soon as a reply is received from the cable company. We will need to meet with Richard Douce (Wayne’s successor) to sort out arrangements for the unveiling. Seats have been painted on Crow Park Way.
Painting of the underpass will take place during week commencing 24th July An appeal was made for members to visit the site, if possible, to support the young people.
Erection of Bird Boxes. Heather undertook to contact Mr Boldison.
Insect Boxes have been delivered and have been installed by Paul. Mary expressed appreciation to Paul for the help he had given with this project and for providing a photograph.
6: Proposed bridlepath diversion – Crow Park Way.
No further information received. Following a discussion, it was agreed to ask the Parish Council to pursue this matter with the County Council.
7: Mowing rota – July/ August: Seymour said if there was a problem with the mowing, the Parish Council Handyman might be able to assist and a work programme was suggested. This will be placed on the Agenda for the next meeting. A Working Party was also suggested and this was arranged for 22nd July at 2 pm.
8: Footpath Maintenance: Mowing/Strimming carried out on footpaths 10, 13, 8, and 1. David Adkin is to organise new finger posts on 3, 4, and 5. David will deliver stile kits to landowners on Footpath 1.
9: Arrangements for Midsummer Hike – 30th August.
Frances volunteered to lead the walk and to organise helpers to assist with the provision of refreshments.
10: Wildlife Database: The following sightings were reported. White throat on towpath. 10th May; Sparrow hawk, Commonpiece Lane, 3rd June: 3 Hares adjacent to canal, 5th July; ?Quail, and Reed Warblers off Causeway, 1st July.
11: Summer Social Event on 14th July:
Arrangements in hand; to meet at Lower Green at 7pm.
12: Greenwatch Award Ceremony, 23rd May.
Heather and Seymour attended to receive the Award and said it was a very pleasant evening. Seymour congratulated everyone concerned with the project on their efforts.
13: Meeting with David Adkins on 1st June:
An interim programme of work on Crow Park Way requested if bridleway diversion is not imminent. The present arrangements for reclaiming minor maintenance are to continue.
