SD Environmental Forum workshops at Calke Abbey Tuesday 25th September 2012
Heather, Liz, Janet and Joan attended and went hunting for invertebrates until rain stopped play. It dried up sufficiently later so we were able to venture out again on a fungus foray. All enjoyed the event and Heather stated she had e-mailed Kate Allies to say thank you on behalf of the group.
Findern Historical Walk Wednesday 26th September 2012
A disappointing turn out but perhaps not surprising as the day started wet. However one member of the public did turn out and enjoyed the walk. Thanks to Sheila, Bob, Liz Lenton, Heather, Janet and Joan for braving the elements. The evaluation form has been sent off to DCC on whose behalf the walk was undertaken.

Christmas Fundraising and Santa Stroll
No firm details as yet.
Resolved: this item is to be added to the next agenda for further discussion.
National Forest Walking Festival May 18-30 2013
Joan asked if members were able to commit to being available to do the Findern/Mercia Marina circular walk as Andy would not be leading our usual historical walk next year. Members felt they would prefer to do a daytime walk but without a firm date not enough of those present were able to commit to being available. Joan states she is attending the steering group meeting tomorrow (5th October) and she will see what dates are short of walks. Full walk details have to be in by October 23rd 2012 at the latest so she will e-mail dates to members and if not enough members can commit we may have to decline to take part in the festival next year.
SD Environmental Forum Tuesday 6th November 2012 7pm-9pm Repton Village Hall
Heather, Liz Lenton and Anne Evans volunteered to attend this event.

ii) Heather states she had cleared vegetation away from the ‘A’ frames at Airport Way and the back of the Tower House and also around the ‘Keep to mown path’ signs in Cote Close
During general discussion it was noted that the mowing etc were getting behind and that this was probably because Richard and the payback team no longer came out every week and perhaps we need to discuss a solution.
9. Minute Number 506/12/FPG – Wildlife Sight Management
i) Heather states she has got some hazel sticks to put around the hedgehog house in the Churchyard and she has spoken to the vicar who is happy for us to do the improvement work. Heather states she has put up another ‘conservation area’ sign.
ii) District Councillor Martyn Ford has spoken to the council workmen re the preservation of the orchid sites.
