Minutes of the Findern Parish Council Footpaths Group meeting held on Thursday 4th July 2013 at the Parish Rooms, Findern commencing at 7 pm
At the start of the meeting Anne welcomed Steve who had come to the meeting to discuss the timetable for the ongoing improvements to FP1 Priory Way. Details are as follows:
Apologies were received and accepted from Frances Prockter, Wendy Hithersay and Mary Ross MBE JP.
There were no Declarations of members’ interests.
Minutes of the Footpaths Group meeting held on Thursday 6th June 2013 were circulated and the following noted:
Wendy, Janet, Heather and Joan attended the fete and were very grateful for the help of the Payback Team in getting the gazebo up. The fete itself was very well attended by villagers and visitors and enjoyed by all.
Heather, Liz Lenton, Wendy, Janet and Frances attended at different times of the day. Heather reported that they had a lot of feedback from members of the public attending the fete in particular about our work on Priory Way. All of the comments were good and very encouraging.
Joan stated all emails of interest received on the groups email address had been forwarded to members for any comment, action or inclusion on the agenda for discussion.
The transect rota was completed up the and including the 8th September and will be forwarded to members.
Anne passed around an updated version of the map for members’ input. All were very impressed but agreed that we should have more local information, history and pictures of local interest such as the ‘Findern Flower’. Liz suggested it would also be better if it was in a plastic sleeve and all agreed.
Liz reports that the Co-op is still working on the design of the board but assures members that it will be ready soon.
Heather reports that the workers are still not mowing King George V playing field as directed and Maurice states that where the grass is longer people are failing to clean up after their dogs. Nev reports that all the flowers in Common Piece Lane have gone as it’s been mown. Liz states there is still a marked lack of wildflowers in all areas of the village and asks if we should consider scattering wildflower seed. Nev suggests that hay rattle should be scattered first to keep the grasses down.
Liz states she is meeting the Payback Team supervisor in the parish rooms to discuss this event and that any member is free to attend, however, she would particularly like one of the parish councillors to attend if possible. Seymour volunteered to attend.
As the group has so much on in July no one is available to attend but Steve will keep us informed re future seminars.
Stuart from Canal and River Trust had emailed suggesting dates for the construction of the boardwalk, following discussion the dates and times agreed are:
Kate had emailed to say the University and Toyota Community Relations people would be attending the forum meeting and she asks if she can meet members earlier to fine tune the details and she suggested meeting at 1.45 pm (the main forum meeting being due to start at 3pm).
Again as we have so much on in July there are insufficient members free to take part in this event.
This event is part of the Environmental Forum and a maximum of 24 people can attend. Most members would like to visit the nature reserve.
Liz suggested that a lost of all activities be devised at the next meeting, and that members should bring ideas.
This was discussed at the start of the meeting with Steve Cresswell. Heather stated she would send out thank you cards to Fay and the students for their help in constructing the new bridge.
Liz states she is still waiting to hear how much wood etc. is required to carry out the repair.
Liz, Nev and Heather will inspect the boardwalk and see exactly what needs to be done.
Liz states Julie Evans has ordered the bench and she will let Liz know when it will be arriving at the parish rooms. The bench will then be placed in situ in the wet area of Crow Park Way by the Payback Team.
Liz reports that Martin has sprayed the areas to be repaired and that the Parish Council have authorised the purchase of the stones. The Payback Team will repair the paths when they are next here.
Complaints have been received from a neighbour concerning a fence which is covered in ivy and there is also a conifer on site which keeps losing its branches and is therefore dangerous. As this will probably have to be felled once the Tree Preservation Order is removed it was decided that Heather should move the hedgehog box until the situation is resolved.
Liz and Nev handed their sightings form to Joan. Heather reported seeing a fox with a rabbit on 10th June.
Resolved: The next meeting will be held in the Parish Rooms, Findern on Thursday 1st August 2013 commencing at 7pm and will be chaired by Anne Evans.
