Welcome to Findern Footpaths Group

Findern Footpaths Group was formed in 1998 when Findern Parish Council wished to set up a working party to care for our countryside. We are all volunteers and we work to maintain, improve and promote the ten kilometres of public rights of way we have here in Findern. These rights of way follow a wide variety of routes alongside streams, ponds and the Trent and Mersey Canal and through flower-rich meadows, historical sites and woodland. Some routes offer stunning views over the countryside towards Repton or Derby

A programme of improvements have succeeded in making the routes more accessible to everyone particularly the less able and those with young children. Additionally, a regular programme of events has dramatically increased the number of people using the routes for walking, horse riding or cycling. On land leased by Findern Parish Council, the group have created diverse habitats to encourage wildlife, including the creation of woodland, managed scrubland, hedgerow, wetland, wildflower meadow and the restoration of two ponds.
